Tell us more about your design style? - HEATHER SIMON –
My design style is one in which I want to represent my clients’ taste and personalities. I love to blend the old with the new if that is what the client is hoping to accomplish but I also love clean slates and starting from scratch! repurposing antiques while bringing in more up to date finishes, fixtures and wall coverings. Also, when designing a space, I like to consider the needs of the individual or family I am working with. I think it’s important to create a space that is beautiful yet functional for the client. Do they need space for toys downstairs while keeping it looking more mature? Or what about the kitchen, what kinds of things are they going to be storing, are cabinets or drawers going to work better in a particular space? - TWOPAGES –
What are your project design concepts and challenges? - HEATHER SIMON –
This house was taken down to the studs in almost every room. We added an additional office above the kitchen and were able to open the wall between the kitchen and living room, updating everything from the floor to the trim work, up to the crown molding and everything in between. There isn’t a room in this house that we didn’t touch. We knew we were going to need to design the interior with new furniture, rugs, curtains from the start and the biggest challenge there is to get the clients to trust your vision for the space before they can even see the sheetrock back on the walls.

When it came down to window treatments, we knew we wanted simple and elegant, chic and sophisticated.

Explain the effect the curtains accomplished for the project? - HEATHER SIMON –
For example, in the Dining Room we wanted to match the dramatic energy of the furnishings in the room. We selected the Liz linen triple pleated in Sepia Ebony to compliment the bold dark table and unique rug. These curtains are a perfect dark yet warm color that completes the space.
In the Master bedroom, we knew we needed a blackout option for the windows and the double doors leading to the back patio. - TWOPAGES –
What is the inspiration from the curtains? - HEATHER SIMON –
When it came down to window treatments, we knew we wanted simple and elegant, chic and sophisticated. The walls in this house are crisp, white and simple; curtains helped to soften the white walls, add another element of texture and bring the room together. The triple pleated curtains from TWOPAGES in a linen fabric checked all those boxes.
