Miscellaneous

The estimate weight per panel you ordered is:

(Width*times fullness*Length*0.0254*0.0254)*(fabric gsm + liner gsm)

You can find fabric gsm info on the product page description section.

For example:

If you ordered panel of Liz/52''Wx84''L/pinch pleat (1.8x fullness by default)/privacy 90gsm liner.

Window Curtains

A general rule of thumb is to position the curtain rod slightly above the window frame and extend it several inches beyond the frame on both sides. This allows the curtains to fully cover the window when closed without blocking out too much light.

It's usually better for curtains to be a bit longer than too short. If they're too short, they might not cover the window well and can look awkward. Longer curtains can be adjusted more easily to the right length and tend to look nicer pooling on the floor. Check out this guide that can help you: "How to Measure Windows for Blinds & Shade?"

Curtains should be 2 to 2.5 times wider than the window. This lets them be pulled back beyond the frame for more light or to enhance the window's look while staying full when closed.

It's suggested to clean your curtains every 3 to 6 months for a fresh and tidy home. However, weekly routine cleaning is a must to reduce dust and allergens.

Yes, you have to wash window curtains to keep them clean and fresh. For the washing method, follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer. For example, for synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyester, avoid dry cleaning; for silk curtains avoid the washing machine; for sheer curtains, use mild detergent, etc. Check out "Your Expertise Tips How to Clean Curtains."

  1. Determine the desired height of the rod above the window frame. Use a measuring tape to ensure the rod is even on both sides.
  2. Attach the brackets to the marked spots using screws and a drill. (Make sure the brackets are level and secure.)
  3. Slide the curtain rod into the brackets. Some rods have finials (decorative end caps); ensure they face outward.

It is recommended that the minimum width is no less than 22 inch. The finished product smaller than 22 inch will have poorer effect.

Blackout Curtains

The potential for this largely depends on your window type and its age. If you have PVC window frames, keep in mind that PVC can expand, potentially resulting in glass cracks. Avoid using blackout curtains on windows with signs of damage like chipped edges, visible cracks, or frame issues.

Those custom-made by a trustworthy seller can stay functional and maintain their appearance for around 12-15 years. In comparison, a ready-made blind, used in similar conditions, might endure for up to 2-5 years, although often less.

Not 100%. Blackout shades are designed to block out the majority of incoming light, but some minimal light leakage may still occur around the edges or seams.

Yes, blackout blinds can prevent people from seeing into a room due to their opaque and light-blocking nature if they fit the window properly.

Roman Shades

They go all the way down to the window (not the floor), meaning you'll have fewer concerns about children pulling on them or pets interacting with them.

Roman shades can sometimes make a room appear smaller, especially when mounted on the inside of the window, which is why they are often better suited for larger rooms and spaces. But, if you choose white-colored shades, your shades will help reflect the light, creating the appearance of even more space. If that’s what you’re aiming for, you can find Roman shades in white or beige colors among these collections.

Roman shades can be installed both inside and outside the window frame. When mounted inside, they fit within the window frame, providing a neater look and allowing the frame to remain visible. Outside mounting places the shades above the window frame, which can create the illusion of larger windows and give a more dramatic appearance.

Each Roman shade is custom-made to fit the specific window dimensions, and the folding mechanism requires precise craftsmanship. So, they tend to be more expensive due to their intricate design and labor-intensive manufacturing process.

Roman blinds are made from softer materials like silk, linen, and cotton and are mostly pre-made, with shades being better for stiffer fabrics and made-to-measure. Also, blinds have a metal bar in each pleat and cord, which can be heavy to lift. Shades are lighter and simpler to operate using a single handle at the top, making them easier to raise and lower, and they can even be cordless. (Note: At Twopages, we only sell Roman shades.)

Yes, they do. Roman shades that are flat fold or soft fold can help block more heat because of their cascading design due to small pockets that trap hot air.

Shade of different lengths will have different folding heights. The folding heights range of Roman shades will be between 6-12 inches.

Generally, it is recommended to deduct 3/8'. If you have a shading requirement, or you have precise measurements, you can deduct 1/8'. (Consider that each window does not necessarily have the same upper and lower dimensions, and there will be a certain error in measurement.)

Bamboo Shades

Very durable. Twopages Curtains Bamboo blinds are durable and don't warp or fade like synthetic ones. Our highly durable bamboo makes the shades suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Dust them regularly with a soft cloth or a vacuum brush attachment. Avoid using water, as it can damage the material. Regular care ensures they stay clean and attractive for a longer time.

In winter, it's generally a good idea to keep window shades open to let in sunlight and warmth, then close them as the sun sets to help insulate against the cold and retain heat. There are several cordless options on our website that allow you to raise them into clean, evenly folded pleats.

Yes, bamboo shades can block sunlight to a certain extent. They are designed to provide some level of light filtering or room darkening (if they have blackout lining), depending on their design and material. For example, this product comes in different darker colors for more sun-blocking features. However, it’s worth noting that, in general, bamboo shades might not provide the same level of light blockage as blackout curtains or shades.

Yes, they are worth it - especially if you appreciate their natural and stylish look. They offer durability, temperature regulation, and a unique texture. Bamboo shades are less expensive than most shades and are super easy to clean, which makes them a popular choice for most.
