What is Liner?

Liner or lining refers to an additional layer of fabric sewn to the back of curtains or shades.

Benefits of Liner

Liners take advantage of blocking light, insulating, protecting the curtain fabric, improving appearance, and reducing noise, enhancing both the functionality and longevity of drapes.

  • Enable the back of the drapery smooth and clean.
  • Protects curtain fabric from harmful UV rays.
  • Moderate noise insulation.
  • Moderate sunlight protection.
  • Reduce energy costs by insulating windows from heat loss in the cool months, and heat transfer through the summer months.

Note: Liners for curtains are typically not hemmed to the extreme bottom and sides.
To prevent unwanted light from sneaking in through any gaps, consider a puddled length (where the curtains extend beyond the floor) and a wider width (extending beyond the window frame on both sides)
