How We Transformed Norah’s Room into a Dreamy Big Girl Retreat!

A Delicate and Charming Haven: Inside Norah’s Big Girl Room
Designing a child’s space is one of the most enjoyable elements of my work—and Norah’s new room proves it. This space was crafted to blend sophistication with playfulness, using timeless materials accented by a touch of whimsy. Today, I'm excited to unveil the details that brought this room to life, beginning with a standout feature: the curtains and rod from TWOPAGES.

Creating a Window Atmosphere: Soft Elegance with TWOPAGES
The windows were a pivotal component of the room. My goal was to achieve a diffused, dreamy light that softened the atmosphere without obstructing the natural sunshine. The decision to use white linen blend curtains from TWOPAGES was perfect. Their drape is delicate and offers a slightly transparent quality that enhances the room's ethereal feel.
Complementing these with a brushed gold rod from TWOPAGES introduced a subtle, refined contrast to the warm blush walls. The hardware remains sleek and minimal yet chic enough to standalone. The result is a stylish, unfussy look, which I aim for in all children's spaces.

A Room Ready to Grow with Her
While the color scheme leans towards gentle pinks and warm neutrals, every piece was chosen with Norah's future in mind. The neutral bouclé daybed provides cozy seating and later, a fun sleepover spot. It’s dressed with oversized pillows in soft sage, white, and a mauve pleated velvet cushion that complements the bedding.
Above the bed, a charming gallery wall showcases youthful, yet timeless artwork. This setup allows for easy changes over time, growing alongside Norah's tastes.

Textured Layers and Harmonious Hues
The oak nightstand introduces warmth and texture, grounding the room's softer tones. It’s adorned with a contemporary pleated lamp and small treasures, including a tiny Maileg mouse, adding personality and charm. Underneath, Norah’s favorite bedtime stories are tucked away.
For the floor, a checkerboard area rug in soft ivory and beige adds gentle patterns without being overwhelming. Features like a woven hamper, brass wall hooks, and soft textiles create a cohesive, inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation.

Personal Touches That Convey Her Essence
A personal favorite? The simple display of a little dress by the window paired with her beloved bunny—a sentimental detail that captures Norah’s essence. It’s these personalized moments that truly make a space feel like home.
Creating this room was an absolute joy—a perfect mix of sweetness, tranquility, and the right amount of sophistication to evolve with Norah through the years.
