How to Choose the Perfect Bamboo Shades for Your Home
By Hannah Joyce
It’s amazing how one thing can tie a room together and make it feel complete. Bamboo shades bring a perfect balance of warmth, texture and natural beauty that instantly makes your space feel more grounded and inviting. The best part is that they not only work with every design style, they elevate your space. But with so many colors, materials and styles out there, finding the right one can feel overwhelming. Here is what you need to know to pick the perfect one for you.

Color
Think about the mood you want to evoke. Lighter tones feel airy and relaxed, while darker tones add richness and sophistication. Always order a sample book. Natural materials like jute, rattan and ramie always have color variation so it’s best to see the color in person instead of deciding based on a stock photo.

Material
Bamboo, jute, ramie are some of the most common materials. They have similar durability, are sustainable and eco friendly. The main difference is the texture. Jute and ramie are more soft and fibrous, rattan and bamboo are more firm and smooth.

Liner
You can get anywhere from 0-100% privacy. The lowest level are light filtering which means there is no liner, you can see shapes and outlines through the blinds and they are more for a decorative look. You can go up from there from partially lined to full blackout.

Mounting type
There are 2 options, inside or outside mount. Outside goes outside the window and often above to make the windows appear bigger. Inside is attached to the interior window casing and will conceal some of the window, but it’s a clean minimal look.

At the end of the day, bamboo shades are more than just a trend. They are a design staple. Whether you go light and airy, or rich and moody, the right shade can complete transform how your room feels. Once you incorporate them in your home, you will wonder why you didn’t add them sooner.
