Custom Silk Dupioni Curtains by TWOPAGES: A Bedroom Transformation Story

I recently partnered with TWOPAGES on having custom silk dupioni curtains made for my mother’s bedroom. TWOPAGES was very easy to work with and made the curtains to my specifications quickly. The large triple-hung window in her bedroom required double-width curtains to proportionally fit and cover the window when they are closed. While the pair of single windows only needed standard single-width panels.

TWOPAGES was able to fabricate both with no trouble. We also had the curtains blackout lined, since it is a bedroom, and are two-prong pinch-pleated at the top to help keep the folds even and streamlined looking.

Simple Installation & Elegant Details

The curtains are made in China so they arrive folded neatly in a box. Once unfolded, you simply just have to slide the curtain hooks into each pleat and they are ready to hang. I used an aged brass curtain rod with a French-return so that the curtains fully return into the wall, preventing lighting from escaping the edges of the curtains when closed. 

The curtain hooks hook onto standard curtain rings easily. Some light steaming was needed since they were shipped folded but the wrinkles steamed out quickly and easily since they are a nice quality silk.

Transforming the Space & Pro Tips for Ordering

Having curtains in her bedroom has fully transformed the space. They soften the windows and the silk gives a beautiful subtle glimmer in the light. By only having blinds on the windows the room felt cold and unfinished and the curtains really added the finishing touch to each window. Plus being blackout lined and wide enough to fully close the curtains are great for sleeping. They also help regulate the temperature in both hot and cold months!

Measure Smart: The Key to a Perfect Curtain Fit

The number one thing to remember when having curtains made is to measure twice so you only have to cut once! Accounting for how high you want the curtains to be, plus the rod and rings. I always draw curtains to scale ahead of time to ensure proper lengths can be given to the workroom and no mistakes are made. TWOPAGES does provide adjustable curtain hooks that hang onto the curtain rings, so if your walls or floors are slightly uneven (they always are) then you adjust each pleat accordingly as needed.
