Interior Trends - Where we Stand in Late 2025

By Jami Campbell with Jami Campbell Interiors

Can you believe that fall is right around the corner?! As we inch closer to the end of the year, it is always interesting to see what interior trends seem to be phasing out and which ones are still going strong. Let’s dive in!

Trend 1

Natural Stone Countertops

In the last couple of years we have seen less and less manmade countertop materials like Quartz, and more natural stone countertops like Quartzite and Marble. Homeowners are trading machine made movement for the unmatched natural veining and beauty found in natural stone. We are becoming more okay with a little etching and character that develops on marble and quartzite and accepting that a little extra maintenance like sealing the stone every 6 months is a fair price to pay. This trend is going nowhere and will be even bigger with more pronounced veining and movement in natural stone slabs going forward.

Vertical Shiplap

Shiplap – this is a tricky one and the answer on how stylish it is in 2025 will vary depending on who you talk to and what aesthetic you are aiming for. Shiplap came in like a wrecking ball during the farmhouse era. It was being used everywhere and in large doses. Now in the latter part of 2025, we are still seeing shiplap but it has taken on a new form. You will see it laid vertically and as a way to add interest and character in smaller spaces. For example, as a backsplash in a butler's pantry or in between beams on a ceiling.

Pleated Perfection

In terms of window treatments, structured, pleated drapery is as hot as it has ever been and isn’t going anywhere. Pinch pleat and triple pleat drapes give homeowners that custom look that makes a space look and feel truly finished. Gone are the days of using grommets on curtains. Go with drapery rings and hang your drapes high and wide for a truly elevated design.

Warm Grays and Earth Tones

Stark white and black finishings and cool gray walls are a thing of the past. Rich brown tones started strong in 2025 and are still being used in design, but warm grays are entering the arena as well. For those with a more modern aesthetic, we are bringing in warm grays with rugs and furnishings. Gray has always been a design staple but the tone of the color is definitely trending warm in late 2025.

Creating Pattern with Tile

For the last several years, you could see a number of laundry room or bathroom designs, using patterned tile. You will not see any designer incorporating patterned tile as we inch toward 2026. Instead, many designers are creating patterns with tile. For example, take a classic subway tile, but play with the layout and placement. This can be done beautifully in showers and on floors. It is a great way to create subtle interest that is more timeless and classic.

These are just some of the trends worth taking note of in late 2025. Keep in mind though, trends come and go, but timeless design never goes out of style. I always recommend my clients have fun with trends on paint and textiles…things that aren’t a huge investment when you want to replace them. Go classic on those bigger ticket items that aren’t as easy to swap out.
