How to Embrace Spring Styling Simply
By Caitlin Fitch of Caitlin Fitch Designs
The changing of seasons is a ceremonious invitation to honor new beginnings in our homes. Without overdoing it we can add small touches and make minor exchanges to help welcome in seasonal new energy. As we welcome Spring consider these minor, but high impact restyling moments in and around your home.
Textiles Around the Home
An update we can implement in many areas of the home can be found in all of our textiles. Consider swapping out your throw pillows for more spring forward patterns and fabrics, exchange your bedding for lighter airier tones and remove a layer, introduce lighter weight blankets to your living areas and bedrooms, swap out runners and entry rugs for lighter colorways and durable fabrics that support an indoor/outdoor lifestyle, and if you really want to be a seasonal overachiever you can swap out your paneled drapery for lighter linens.

Everything in Bloom
Bring the blooming outdoors in. This is the perfect time of year to fill your vessels with foraged blooming stems and florals found in the wild or garden. And if the natural varieties are bothersome to your seasonal allergies, update your vases and vessels with your favorite and most authentic spring faux stems and florals for an added boost of renewed energy around the home.

Consider Pairing Back
The winter season is often associated with layers – layers of textiles, layers of decorative objects, etc. For the Spring consider a less is more approach. Simplify your vignettes to leave space for everything new that is entering our lives.
Organic Materials & Whimsical Silhouettes
Introduce organic materials to your home that honor natural imperfections and create a more lived-in sense of home for ultimate relaxation. Think materials like travertine, burl wood or distressed vintage pieces. Don’t be afraid to lean into more whimsical silhouettes and details this spring – your floral patterns, fluted lamp shades, rounded edges, etc.

Outdoor Living
Assemble your outdoor areas to accommodate for living, dining, and entertaining spaces. Refresh your outdoor pillows with organic patterns, dust off the citronella candles, polish the grilling tools and bring out the added outdoor comforts that will encourage you and your loved ones to spend more time in nature. Embrace your green thumb – fill your planters and garden with fresh flowers and herbs. Lay a new, clean welcome mat and hang your spring wreath to honor the changing season.
