How to Create the Perfect Spring Tablescape

By Chelsea Laspada of Casa de Laspada

There’s no better feeling than when you can sense the beginning of Spring in the air — the sun is out, the garden is beginning to thrive, and the days are longer. This is one of my favorite times of the year to entertain and try new recipes, and I’m excited to host in my new home that I’ve been updating for the past couple of months. I absolutely love our dining room (it’s what really sold me on this house!) because of the vaulted ceilings, charming fireplace, and best of all, a large window that lets all the natural light flood in. I’ve been putting the finishing touches on this space and collecting some fun items for this entertaining season, and I’m excited to share four tips you can use to create a welcoming dining space to set the mood for your gatherings!

Spring Vibe Dining Room

Incorporate Texture and Light, Airy Fabrics

Spring is all about lightness and freshness, so opt for breathable fabrics and natural textures for your dining room accessories. I gravitate towards linen tablecloths or napkins for a more relaxed vibe and love the look of a woven placemat to add some interest. Additionally, I incorporated some upholstered dining chairs at each end of my table to create a more comfortable option for guests. For window treatments, I opted for a linen roman shade in a sand beige color to complement the space and add variation from the wood tones and textures from the dining table and chairs.

Decorate with Fresh Flowers

I love tulips, hydrangeas, peonies, and greenery to add an essence of Spring indoors. I gravitate towards white or light pastel flowers, but love an occasional pink or yellow if it complements my tablescape. Vases can also be a statement item — I love collecting vintage glass vases and rotating them out as I create new flower arrangements!

Let Natural Light Create an Inviting Atmosphere

One of my favorite parts about our dining room is the large window that lets the natural light pour into the room. If you’re hosting during the day, position your dining table near a window to create a welcoming atmosphere for your guests. I leave our linen roman shade open when entertaining to enjoy the view and sunshine, but I love that they have a motorized function to easily control how much light flows in with just the touch of a button.

Incorporate Subtle, Seasonal Touches

I love the look of seasonal touches like a bowl of citrus, fresh herbs, or patterned napkins to add some interest to your table setting. Keep the tableware more minimal — like ceramic plates in a creamy ivory tone or simple white china. A ribbed coupe glass for a Spring cocktail also adds a nice touch!

Add Seasonal Touch for Dining Space

Whether you’re preparing for a dinner party or a date night in, incorporating these elements will create a space that feels fresh, inviting, and perfectly suited for bringing the joy of Spring indoors. Most importantly, add personal touches that make your house a home and allow your dining space to feel like a reflection of you! The best dining rooms are the ones that create space for friends and family to share stories over a new recipe or glass of wine. Happy entertaining!
