Curved Furniture Trend for 2025: How to Incorporate It for a Chic and Inviting Home
By Gargi Joglekar, Lead Interior designer & Owner of Modern Design Homes
I have always loved using curvy furniture to break the sharp edges the modern design style creates. I remember when I first saw these stylish sofas on a vendor's website I immediately felt that it’s a perfect fit for any space because it was something about the style that attracted me to the style. It not only looked beautiful, but the fabric that was used was exquisite too. Since then I’ve been noticing that the curves are making a huge comeback in 2025.

I feel like the curved furniture is all about soft edges and gives a sense of comfort and sense of warmth as opposed to the sharp and boxy edges of modern style furniture that we’ve seen in previous years. The curvy feel can bring a sense of relaxation and sophistication into a space and the best part is, you could have those as accent pieces and they can fit in any room given their chic and functional style.
Start Small with Accent Pieces
To embrace this trend I would highly recommend starting out with small accent pieces. if you are not ready to invest in a larger sofa or a dining table then using the shapes in decorative form will do too. Rounded automan, circular decorative objects or even a curved headboard in your bedroom space. I recall using small circular and oval mirrors on an accent wall to give it a unique look and my clients loved the creative direction it took. The use of irregular shaped framed artwork enhanced the gallery wall because it broke the dullness which was very important to make the space area stand out a bit more from the seat of the space. The soft edges made the corner feel unique and equally elegant and brought that interesting element and focal point in that room. It captured everyone's attention immediately which was the intention behind the accent wall. If you are going to opt for a space that needs a focal point then I would use circular decorative pieces.

Make a Statement with Larger Curved Furniture
Choosing a Curved Bigger furniture piece for a statement look is a great way to elevate a space because it not only serves as an accent piece, but also creates some natural flow in any room it is placed. While designing I always find a way to break the repetition and opt for a Unique shaped furniture or decor rather than traditional rectangular shapes. They can sometimes be a conversational piece making it ideal for the entertainment area or Great room and if you are concerned about fitting that into the existing decor, then you can always go for a neutral color palette that way it can blend in seamlessly with your existing style and yet stand out in your space.
Round Dining Tables for a Cozy, Unique Look
Selecting a round dining table versus a traditional rectangular table would also be an option if you are looking to create a space that is intimate and cozy. There is no such rule that you have to go for a rectangular table because that is what everybody goes for and it is the safest design choice but if you want your home to be as unique as you are you can choose unique ways to design your home. Choosing a round table is a great way to bring in some variety. The dining table could be paired with the upholstered chair and you can select chairs that have a rectangular back. Again our aim here will be to break the sameness. This way both combinations will stand out enough to make it a statement piece in itself. It will not only look elegant, but comfortable for your everyday dining experience.

Subtle Touches: Embrace the Curve with Decor
Go for curved decor for subtle touches if you’re not ready to invest in curved furniture yet! You can definitely embrace the trend by opting for small deco elements in your home such as round rugs, arched mirrors, organic shaped sculptures, or vases. I remember adding an arched floor mirror to my client's space and it completely changed the feel of the space making it look taller, brighter, and more welcoming. Even swapping out angular decor for pieces with softer touches can make a huge difference. Curve light fixtures, circular coffee tables, and rounded picture frames can also create a cohesive look that is unique enough to stand out.
Mix and Match: Balancing Curves with Clean Lines
While balance is important in a design, I would not recommend selecting curved furniture for your entire home as that can become boring pretty quickly with one shape and no variety. We want balance in our home and I would recommend mixing and matching the shapes and selecting some irregular shapes, mirrors or picture frames around your home to create the contrast touch. I remember when I incorporated curves in my living room. I kept my bookshelf, sleek and linear to create contrast and a mix of curves and clean lines gave the space a modern yet unique feel—the exact kind of balance I was looking for in my space.

Fabric Makes a Difference: Choose Soft and Textured Upholstery
Using soft, textured fabric Using curved furniture brings that cozy, inviting aspect of a design element to your space but I would pay attention to the fabric it is upholstered in! If you are going for a slightly elevated feel going for higher end textured fabric would complement the piece, a velvet fabric would be your ideal in such a scenario by adding that textile element which makes the room feel more layered & luxurious. Not only does it look chic & modern but fabric plays a big role in how a room design feels.
Don’t Forget the Outdoors
Curvy furniture for outdoors as well. Let me add that the curvy furniture isn’t just indoors, but for the outdoor spaces too, they work beautifully outside with the natural elements of nature. I recently did a patio outdoor project where I have added a patio table paired with a large curved lounging chair and it completely softens the look of the outdoor space. Whether it’s surrounded by a wicker sofa or a fire pit, seating arrangements these organic shapes create a relaxed and welcome outdoor environment.
I guess the whole point of this blog is to spread awareness that curved furniture is more than just an aesthetic! It can break the monotony of sharp edges created by modern furniture in a space and can help create a home that feels warm and inviting and effortlessly stylish!!
Whether you start with small accent pieces or go all in with a curved sectional sofa the key is to pair them in a way that works well. At the end of the day you can design a space that makes you feel happy but also make sure that has a cohesive flow with your design style, colors, textures, patterns, and overall look of your home.
