Adding Value with Custom Pieces

“Incorporating unique pieces not only enhances a room’s aesthetic but also adds long-term value to your home, making custom design solutions a smart investment.” - Stefanie Nemec
In interior design, details matter immensely. Custom pieces, such as window treatments, bedding and built-ins have the power to completely transform a space. They create a layered, inviting atmosphere, making any room feel sophisticated and thoughtfully curated.
For instance, in a recent project for kids' bedrooms using Two Pages Fabrics, we combined playful polka dots, soft florals, solids and custom trims to create unique window treatments, pillows and a tailored daybed cushion. Don’t be afraid to play with patterns - it infuses personality into the rooms, showcasing how custom designs enhance the overall aesthetic.
The bedrooms’ window nook provided the perfect opportunity to add value to the home. While we initially considered a pre-made retail daybed, we ultimately chose built-ins; in this case - a custom wall-to-wall daybed and a stunning bench cushion with contrasting trim. The drawers are large and deep, providing plenty of storage for blankets and pillows, and the cushion provides a comfy spot to snuggle up and read, and an extra sleeping space for guests. Over time, this reading nook can adapt from a cozy kids’ corner to a home office or library.
Ultimately, custom furnishings are more than just beautiful; they contribute to your home's resale value. By integrating unique, permanent pieces, you elevate your home’s appeal. If you are unsure about mixing patterns and fabrics, or where to add built-ins, consider consulting with an interior designer. Custom solutions offer limitless potential, enhancing both style and value in ways that retail items cannot.
