My Family Room Makeover with TWOPAGES Curtains

By Robin Johnson

I recently partnered with TWOPAGES Curtains in exchange for drapes to hang in our family room. They have a lot of great textural fabrics to choose from and I love the border options that run down the inside edge. I selected the Liz color Light Khaki with Trim Border Style E32. They shipped out in about 3 weeks and arrived neatly packaged and even included drapery pins (which I didn't discover until later on!) Here's what they looked like right out of the box.

We live in an older home with 8' ceilings and for years the family room windows have cried out for window treatments. The family room is more of the man cave where my husband spends his time, hence I haven't done much to it over the years. But guess who's gone fly fishing all week... the same person who's coming home to an upgraded man room!

Here's a before photo showing how plain the windows were even after I put up the drapery rod.  Note with 8' ceilings, I put the rod up as high as it could go to draw the eye up and make the room feel taller.

BEFORE

And here are some after photos showing how nice these new curtains look. They really soften the space and a layer of luxury.  TWOPAGES Curtains has lots of styles to choose from but I went with a Triple Pleat Header for more of a traditional style.

AFTER

I mentioned earlier that I didn't find the included drapery pins until after I had used the traditional silver ones that make your fingers hurt after working them through the fabric. When I discovered the plastic pins included, I immediately used those because they were so much easier to install!

Here's some images showing how the plastic pins slide right on behind the pleat. I will add that where the trim hangs over, there isn't a pleat so I added the old school pin there to make it hang correctly. Another advantage of the plastic pins is that they make your curtains hang at the same height vs having to make sure the old school pins are all lined up evenly.

Another great piece of advice, after you have your rod installed and are ready to hang your draperies, keep the panel bunched together how it shipped. Hang half of the panel over your shoulder to support the weight of it while you pin the top half in place. This also helps the panel to maintain its shape and keep it clean while installing.

As you can see, I opted to have my drapes just puddle on the floor so ordered 91" long by 50" wide panels. Here's a pro tip : One big difference in inexpensive panels and a luxury panels comes down to the fullness. I like to have a stackback (width of panel when open as shown below) of usually 12-15" depending on the window size and ceiling height involved.

One of the best things about TWOPAGES Curtains is that you get a luxury look for a great price. You should check them out if you're in the market for drapes. I'm excited to show you these pics and had fun styling the ottoman for fall with pumpkin spice candles. Can't wait to see what my fly fisherman thinks when he gets home.
